Each product group or individual contract will have trading hours set by the exchange that lists the contract and these hours will vary by product. Some contracts, such as the CME FX futures, trade 23 hours a day during the business week while others trade in a more compact timeframe, such as ICE Futures US’ sugar #11, which trades for 7 ½ hours.
Trading hours for all contracts offered by Tradovate can be viewed in the Market Resource section of our website.
Trading hours are typically set by trading sessions or trade dates rather than actual calendar day. For example, the CME’s equity index products session for a trade date of Monday begins Sunday evening at 5:00 PM Central Time (CT) and ends at 4:00 PM CT on Monday. Some contracts also include trading halts during the session, which are breaks in trading activity before the session close. For example, CME’s equity index products have a halt at 3:15 PM CT and trading resumes at 3:30 PM CT.
